The Congress and President have mandated that the catastrophes of Hurricanes Rita and Katrina be paid out of our tax dollars, but
they haven't said how we are going to pay for them. There have been many suggestions including raising our tax dollars.
The one most touted but, of course, ignored by our Congress is cutting the pork from the current spending bills. I urge all Congress
men and women to list "pork" items they have identified in the spending budgets and then have the Congress men and women of those States
defend why they can't cut these items. We have seen citizen interviews on TV who state they are willing to give up the "pork" projects
in their local areas for Katrina victims. Why do Congress men and women feel differently? Who are they really representing, the people
or themselves? This ought to be a real eye opener to see which Congressional representatives really have our National interests in mind.
